Shay is a social entrepreneur who combines entrepreneurship, innovation, education and indigenous knowledge to empower indigenous leaders to grow world class organisations. He founded the Maori Development unit at The Icehouse business growth hub, and more recently is the co-founder of fast-growing education and leadership enterprise, Te Whare Hukahuka, which has trained more than 500 indigenous Māori leaders who collectively serve more than 200,000 Maori people. Te Whare Hukahuka is now looking at partnering with indigenous nations around the world to help them grow businesses, leadership and create better outcomes for indigenous communities.

Shay is also a founding board member of Teach First NZ, recruiting and training leaders to serve as effective teachers in underprivileged communities. In 2016 Shay was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia Social Entrepreneurs list.

Travis has two decades of experience with developing businesses, strategy and leadership. He has received a number of New Zealand business awards in innovation, technology design, and for ‘Positive Societal Impact’. In 2009 Travis received the Supreme Award for Māori Innovation and Entrepreneurial Achievement. As a co-founder of Te Whare Hukahuka, Travis has worked with more than 500 Māori leaders across a range of projects to advance their commercial and social objectives.

He is now heavily involved in partnering with indigenous nations around the world to utilise Te Whare Hukahuka training resources to help them grow businesses, leadership and create better outcomes for indigenous communities. His strengths include strategic planning support, innovation, capital raising, facilitation to indigenous audiences and identifying ways to overcome roadblocks.
